OpenCola is a kind of product of cola unique because the information for making can be used without restraint and is available and modifiable. Any person can make the drink, and any person can change and get better on the recipe as long as they, too, license their instructions under the GNU General Public License.
Even though this was originally projected in Canada in 2001 as a promotional tool to explain free software/open source software, the drink took on a life of its own and 150.000 units were sold and became better known for the drink than the software that was proposed to promote.
